Most importantly, before every tournament, Coach Lucy addresses her players with this directive “Have Fun!”
Coach Alex Gizzi
Alex was introduced to the sport of jump rope at her elementary school in 2004, and began competing in 2005. Starting in 2007, she and her teammates brought home gold medals every summer for six consecutive years. In 2009, she set the national record for Double Dutch Power at the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games, which she then broke again the following summer. Alex joined SkipSations! in the fall of 2010 as a junior in high school, and has been proudly sporting the turquoise and yellow ever since.
Alex graduated from North Carolina State University in 2017 with a B.S. in Environmental Science and has been coaching along side Lucy Schimmelfing since 2015. Alex strives to train athletes safely and effectively, and works with each athlete to set high, yet achievable goals. Outside of the gym, you can find Alex practicing yoga, backpacking, dancing, and watching nature documentaries. She looks forward to every practice and believes that each athlete can always be pushing to grow stronger every day.
